YONKERS – City police are investigating the death of a 53-year-old Bronx man whose body was found early yesterday morning outside an oil-change shop at the corner of Bronx River Road and Yonkers Avenue.

A passerby noticed the body lying in some shrubs and notified workers at the nearby Valvoline shop before calling police at 7:52 a.m.

Workers at the oil-change shop also saw the body when they arrived 20 minutes before, but thought it was someone trying to sober up from a night at Kennedy’s, a bar across the street.

GREENBURGH – The town has spent nearly a quarter-million dollars to run a sewer district without state authorization and overcharged some residents since 1992, according to an audit by the state Comptroller’s Office.

Auditors found that, as a result of miscalculations by town officials, residents in Federally Assisted Sewer District 4 near the Sprain Brook Parkway in Edgemont have been overcharged, undercharged or not charged at all.

Read more in The Journal News about the audit, which estimates the average resident would have saved $427 during the period from 1989 to 2007 on sewer assessment charges.
