Cambodian school named in honor of Harrison teen Wednesday, Jan 2 2008

HARRISON – A town teenager was honored Wednesday after overcoming her own failing health to help less-advantaged children in Cambodia.Rachel Rosenfeld, 17, attended the opening ceremony of a school named in her honor, after she raised more than $52,000 to help educate Cambodian children on the Siem Reap province.Read more about Rosenfeld, who missed a year of school due to a digestive disorder, and decided to raise money for others in her free time.

Jacob Burns center receives grants to continue educational programs Wednesday, Jan 2 2008

PLEASANTVILLE – Students across Westchester County with an interest in films will continue to train with high-tech equipment and professionals for little or no cost at the Jacob Burns Film Center.The film center, known for its cultural and artistic appeal, recently received two grants totaling $49,000 from the New York State Council of the Arts.

GM moves to sue Sleepy Hollow over Lighthouse Landing project restrictions Wednesday, Jan 2 2008

Harrison man sues town over building permits Wednesday, Jan 2 2008

HARRISON – Town resident Marc Castaldi has filed a lawsuit against the town’s supervisor, planning board, town board and building official, claiming they have illegally withheld building permits for more than two months.Castaldi cannot build three, two-family homes without the permits and has since lost intended income from rent of the houses, he said.
