HARRISON – Democrat Joan Walsh has prevailed in the race for town mayor and supervisor, as unofficial results from the Westchester Board of Elections show her leading Republican Stephen Malfitano by more than 80 votes.

Walsh said the official results from the board would take a few weeks, but attorneys representing both parties found her the winner.

Harrison candidates for supervisor remain hopeful as recount continues Wednesday, Nov 28 2007

HARRISON – With a recount now under way in the race for supervisor, Joan Walsh maintains her slim lead over Stephen Malfitano.

Walsh, who currently serves as town clerk, said a tally by her team during the recount of ballots from voting machines put her in the lead by at least 60 votes yesterday.

Republican Malfitano would not comment on the tallies from each team, but said he would wait until all the votes had been counted.

Officials of the Westchester County Board of Elections completed the recount of ballots from voting machines that where placed in 19 districts in about three hours. The board will continue the recanvass today, counting the affidavits and remaining absentee ballots.

Committee finds unfair campaigning by Harrison supervisor candidates Wednesday, Nov 28 2007

HARRISON – Just as Election Day approaches, the Westchester County Fair Campaign Practices Committee has found valid complaints by both Harrison supervisor candidates against their opponents.

The committee ruled in favor of four out of five complaints filed by Republican Stephen Malfitano, who is seeking his fourth term as supervisor, and favored one of two complaints filed by his opponent, Democrat Joan Walsh.
